Don’t you just love walking outside and admiring the beauty of the world? I sure do.
One of my favorite places to go is the beach because almost everything about it is so pretty and relaxing. I say almost everything because sharks terrify me and definitely do not bring me relaxation.
One time I was swimming in the ocean just having a blast and this guy was fishing not too far down from me and he pulled out a baby shark. A BABY SHARK. I ran out of the water so fast. It is actually pretty funny to look back on now but definitely was not funny at the time. Within that same beach trip I found myself running out of the ocean again because of my fear for sharks. Only this time I was yelling, “SHARK” and running more frantically. Turns out it was just a piece of seaweed or maybe a small fish that touched my friend. But this incident was really funny at the time and still is now.
I didn’t tell you these two stories for you to have a good laugh (but if you did I don’t blame you) or for you to become scared of sharks yourself. I think they are great creatures and are very important to sea life. If they weren’t there, would I be more relaxed? For sure, but even with them I still think of the beach as one of my happy places.
I really enjoy starring out at the ocean especially at sunset because it is gorgeous. I always find myself thinking, “Wow, my God is creative, powerful, and really loves me.” He blesses us with so much and definitely more than we realize.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge” (Psalm 19:1-2).
You don’t have to go to the beach to see the glory of God. You can simply look up at the stars and see a few of his many blessings. Go on a hike and stare at the trees as the sun finds a way to peek through them. In the winter as it starts to snow, go stand outside and watch as everything begins to turn white. When it rains don’t sit inside, you should go outside and dance in it. Unless it is thunder storming but even then, find time to sit by a window and thank God for a beautiful lightning storm.
God shows us wonderful things every day we just need to take time to admire them and thank him.
